If you like running around in a darkened area wearing a vest that lights up each time you are "shot" as well as providing protection and shooting a gun that directs a laser beam at your opponent (you must wear eye protection also), then you'll enjoy playing laser tag. It's very popular with older children and teenagers, but adults enjoy it, too.

Laser tag is the perfect family or group activity. It's played indoors, so it's something you and your family or group can do all year long. In New York City, there are several places that offer laser tag, so you should have no trouble finding one close to where you live.

Here are a few places in New York City that have laser tag facilities. Find the one most convenient to you, and go have some fun.

1. miles Ooba Dooba Clubhouse , 66-26 Metropolitan Avenue, Metro Mall, Middle Village

This laser tag facility is located in Queens, only about six miles from New York City. Jump on the subway or bus, or drive out to this borough and enjoy a game of laser tag.

If you have to wait until it's your turn in the laser tag arena, there are other things to do at Ooba Dooba Clubhouse. Swing at a few balls in the batting cage, or take advantage of the other activities at this indoor amusement center.

2. Fun Station USA , 40 Rocklyn Avenue, Lynbrook, New York

A quick trip to Long Island (approximately 12 miles from New York City) will bring you to Fun Station USA. This is a family entertainment center that offers laser tag facilities, as well as video games, some carnival rides (bumper cars and a carousel) and a play maze. Your family or group won't have any problem finding something to do before or after their laser tag session.

3. Lazerland , 54A Vanderbilt Motor Parkway, Commack, New York

Lazerland is also located on Long Island and provides families and groups with an environment for playing laser tag that is fun, safe, and friendly. You won't have to worry about taking your family here or letting your kids go with a group.

The laser tag arena is 5,500 square feet, so you and your family or group will have a lot of room to run around and shoot each other in. Make the drive to Long Island to visit Lazerland soon.

4. Q-ZAR , 151 Voice Road, Carle Place, Long Island, NY

Located near the Roosevelt Field Mall, Q-ZAR is another fun place to play laser tag. The "battlefield" is black-lit, making it more exciting as you duck, dodge, and run around the 4,000 square foot playing arena. As many as forty players can occupy the arena at one time, so you can bring a large group. The Q-ZAR staff will divide your group into even-numbered teams so that everything will be fair and above board.
