When my girlfriend discussed the topic of her forthcoming 50th, it was with a sigh of elongated 'this can't be happening to me' I am too young to be fifty. I mean look at me l'm still beautiful, '(yes she is) 'I can dance to Pharrell Williams, in fact l love to dance and l will be damned if l am going to stop dancing just because l have turned 50.'
So to distract her from the epic milestone of turning 50, we turned her attention to her forthcoming Birthday Themed Party which was booked at Laruche in Ann Street the Valley. This hip, cool venue was my girlfriend's favourite place to have a Cocktail, mingle and DANCE.
Now l have not as yet ventured to Laruche and the way she talked About this 'place of the nite' I was 'IN'. The invitations arrived Formal Affair and all guests must wear
The anticipated Birthday Nite arrives and l decide to arrive in style...
By Translink Bus. Had my friend had of realised this, she would disown me, l am wearing a long Charlie Brown Creation and carrying my mask, a cool young dude on the bus is getting off at the Valley stop and remarks how great l look and 'Wow love the Mask' 'Where are YOU going'? To a masked Birthday at Laruche , I say ' 'WOW, how old is the birthday girl, he asks ? '50'' l say, and saunter into the crowd. (straight out of a scene from Sex in the City).
I am greeted at the door and escorted to the loft , everyone looks amazing, bejewelled and masked, my friend looks truly beautiful in a full length Brisbane designer silk gown and her feathered mask set the outfit perfectly. Laruche is a great vibe , the champagne flowed, the platters of delicious food were just right for an occasion like this.
The music was fantastic and the lighting atmospheric. I can see why she ( my fifty and fab friend) so loves this place, it is a sublime venue and Dance, Dance, Dance... we did.
