Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder which predominantly affects the lungs, but can also affect the pancreas, liver, kidneys and intestines. A malfunction of the exocrine system, there is no cure and it affects sufferers from birth.
Caused by a gene which is carried by 1 in 25 people, the gene must be inherited from both parents for a baby to be born with CF, with many individuals being unaware they are carriers. 1 in 2,500 babies in Australia are born with CF. Many people are carriers and don't know, which means there are about 1 million unaware carriers!

Cystic Fibrosis Australia works to improving clinical practice and patient outcomes through clinical improvement programs and research with the aim to extend the life expectancy of CF sufferers from 37 to 50 years by 2025. In order to do this, they need funding! So how can you help?
Great Strides is a great way to get involved and undertake a challenge together with others to help people with CF breathe a little easier. Participation is available for corporate teams, schools, community groups and individuals; this is a great way to get together with colleagues, family members and friends and walk, jog or run for a great cause.
