The Lanyon Homestead Christmas Carols and Picnic is back for another year, to be held on Saturday, 7th December! These popular carols are held at one of Canberra's most historic and beautiful 19th century houses, with family activities and a grassy lawn to lay out a picnic in the shade. Take your own picnic dinner, or pre-order one from the Barracks Café, starting from $24 per hamper.

The Sing Australia Choir and Tuggeranong Valley Band will start the carols as the sun sets over the Brindabellas. Visitors can also take a tour of the homestead decorated for a 19th century Christmas and lit with candles. Children and families can participate in crafts and games from a bygone era, making a 19th century style spice-scented Pomander to hang on the Christmas tree, a colourful Christmas crown to wear and play Victorian era games like hoopla and skittles.
