On Saturday 20th May, Langri Tangpa Buddhist Centre at Camp Hill is holding an open day and entry is free.

Buddhism has gained popularity since World War II with people seeking a greater understanding of life rather than following the doctrine of current day religions. Even if people are not following the Buddhist way of life, many are still quoting Buddha's proverbs, which have proven common sense to the reader.

The Langri Tangpa Centre was founded in 1982 and was run by Inta McKimm for almost fifteen years. After her death, it was thought the centre may close, however her daughter Miffi felt it was important to carry on the work her mother had begun. Originally named Chenrezig City Centre, it was renamed to Langri Tangpa Centre after Geshe Langri Tangpa who was a Kadampa Master known by his practice of exchanging his happiness for the suffering of others. The Centre is affiliated with the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT).

The centre runs regular classes in meditation, emotional balance, yoga and introduction to Buddhism. Often, touring Tibetan Lamas visit the centre and members have the advantage of regular teachings and courses from these visits. The centre is open to anyone who can benefit, there is no need to be a Buddhist to attend.

There is no requirement to book ahead but a programme has been sent out for the day. Guided tours will be available all day so on arrival you can put your name down for the time-slot that best suits you. The programme is
