We were keen to go on the SkyBridge, a suspension bridge that hangs at about 100m above ground. (It apparently swings in the wind). We got our hotel to ring and check that the cable car was open, because you can't get up there in high winds, if they stop the cable car. However, on arrival at the Oriental Village, we discover that the cable car is running but disappointingly, the bridge is shut. So ask your hotel to ask the right questions!
As we were there, we took the cable car to the top, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. The website says that the cable car covers "1,700 meters in distance and upon reaching the Middle Station at an elevation of 650m above sea level" but I thought I read a sign that the top station was 841 metres above sea level (though don't quote me on that). The views are really spectacular and it's amazing to see how many islands you can see - Langkawi is made up of 99 islands, and many are visible from the top of the cable car.
The ride itself is also fun, as not only do you get a great view of the jungle and waterfalls, but the height and drop on the return trip caused nerve induced giggles for us.
