What a gem. This local museum is full of a great number of local memorabilia collected over many years. It is dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the local region. Items are well displayed with plenty of information.
The outside appearance is excellent with plenty of parking nearby. Established in 1976 it is is one of the largest community museums in South East Queensland and run by a dedicated group of volunteers. They have a large research department which I am sure keeps local history buffs very busy.
I was very impressed with their presentation. It does not have a cluttered feel about it even though there are 100,s of items on display. It has plenty of room to move around, taking your time. Disabled peoples needs are well catered for.
It is open Wed - Fri and Sundays, 9 am - 2.30 pm. There is a small entry fee. Centrally located at 4 Malaney St, it is quite hard to miss with its lovely mustard colour. It is walking distance from the train station. Across the road, there are a couple of lovely cafes.
