From a distance, one could be fooled into thinking that they were merely sailboats - perhaps slightly closer to shore than expected, but otherwise rather unremarkable.
On closer inspection, however, you will notice several important differences: first, the presence of wheels, and the second, the fact that these sailboats do not take to water. Rather, they are the vehicles that enthusiasts use for a strange activity known as "land sailing."
Even a complete novice at the sport would have to admit that it looks like more fun than is really reasonable for something that is in many ways an elite sport with a rich history. With origins lying to the Far East and Egypt in the 6th century and the time of the pyramids respectively, landsailing has spread in popularity across the vast plains of Europe and even to the Antipodes.
The NSW Blokart & Land Sailing Club seeks to promote and organize the sport of land sailing within NSW. For the price of $30 per annum for individuals or $60 per annum for a family, you can join the club. By taking up membership, you not only gain liability insurance, but also join a network that is the largest blokart and land sailing club in NSW.
The primarily club is called Hunter Land Sailing. Apart from being the main retailer of land sailing equipment, Hunter Land Sailing takes part in various competitions, including the (land sailing) State of Origin and Evolution competitions.
