Since I moved inner-city just over a year ago, I don't get down to the South East burbs much anymore. Having just won some movie tickets to Paris Can Wait , I decided to take advantage of the freebie, but alas, it wasn't showing at my local Jam Factory Village Cinema , hence the traipse to Westfield Southland Shopping Centre .

Arriving early enough for a spot of dinner, I spied Laksa King Kitchen looking very elaborate in the food-hall area of the cinema precinct. It's apparently been there for the timeframe I've moved out of the burbs, so for me, this was love at first sight, complete with the thrilling anticipation of what was to follow.

I adore laksa, especially seafood curry laksa, and if it's on the menu, I have to try it out for comparison to other eateries I've had it at. My current front runner is Dumplings Plus at the Chadstone Shopping Centre's food-hall area. It all depends on one's individual taste. I don't particularly care for what I call a very 'currified' taste, and Dumplings Plus meets that criteria for me.

I eagerly ordered and it arrived promptly at my table. At $18.50 a bowl, it was $5 more expensive than what I'm used to paying. However, the serving was quite large, and once tasted, it was worth every penny.

It doesn't sound very Asian, but I have to use the expression 'al dente' to describe the perfection of the noodles that were still firm when bitten. My eyes were already rolling back in my head as a noodle lover. The flesh of the fish was firm and tender and not falling apart. The scallops were tasty little morsels of purrrrrrfect! and yes, it was purr worthy! The prawns were plump, perfectly cooked and generous looking in the bowl. The combined taste of all with the luscious gravy was just heaven! Looks like I'll have to head back down to Southland Shopping Centre sometime soon again!

I wish I could have supplied you with more food porn, but one huge bowl of food is all I could fit in. Check out their menu for undoubtedly other tasty offerings, if what I ordered was anything to go by. They also have quite the drinks menu as well. Not bad for a restaurant in a shopping centre! Check their website and Facebook page for more food porn and updates.
