Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending The Lakeside Café for lunch. The Lakeside Café is hidden amongst the suburbia in Oakden alongside a lake with easy access off street parking.

Upon arriving, I noticed parts of the lake were blocked off for renovations. No water was present either probably due to the recent heat waves in South Australia and little rain. This was unfortunate as I recall from previous visits, the lake normally being quite a pretty view.

When we arrived, we were not greeted, so we grabbed some menus and headed to a table inside. They do have tables on their veranda which is a beautiful spot on days with great weather to get that vitamin d alongside eating some food. Due to the weather, we ate inside, which was still a delight due to the cute decor.

I was happy to see a great menu selection, varied in burgers, pasta, pizzas and salads. They also have a wide variety of dairy and gluten-free options.

I ended ordering an almond iced latte and their avocado and smoked salmon salad. The pricing was not too bad for what it was worth and I was not unsatisfied by the end. It was delicious, the café itself décor with a conventional and relaxed vibe.

My only real critique that atmosphere of the staff. I could sense the stress of staff when they were present despite it not being particularly busy. Good and relaxed customer service makes a huge difference for an overall experience.

Nonetheless, if you live in the local area, I would recommend giving this place a try for breakfast, lunch and/or coffee and cake on a nice day, and, if weather and renovations are great, go for a nice stroll after!
