Go for a walk around the Lake in Bendigo
A five-minute drive from Alexandra Fountain, at the centre of Bendigo and you will find yourself at Lake Weeroona. Not for swimming, but you can walk around the Lake, meet for a picnic, relax by the water's edge, or enjoy coffee and cake at the popular Boardwalk cafe and restaurant. Lake Weeroona has a number of undercover barbecue areas, a playground, and a great asphalt walking track around the perimeter of the Lake. There is usually a coffee van at the Lake as well as a number of nearby eateries.

A tram stop for Bendigo Tramways is located in Nolan Street, adjacent to The Boardwalk cafe and restaurant, which means you can enjoy a vintage tram tour and alight at the Lake. Home to the Bendigo Canoe Club, you will often see members using the Lake for training and for leisure. A variety of birdlife makes its home at Lake Weeroona and during Spring you are likely to come across a few new families.

Australia Day celebrations at Lake Weeroona include entertainment, a craft market, food stalls and displays. An official ceremony and citizenship ceremony will be held in the morning at the Lake.
