Tuggeranong has a lot of playgrounds which are enjoyed by families in every season of the year. It is a way to wear off some energy and (cheaply) entertain the kids, whilst getting out in the fresh air and enjoying some winter sun, or summer shade.
In Tuggeranong, the firm favourite among our friends with kids is Kambah Adventure Playground, with its long slide, two flying foxes and large array of playground activities. This is one of our favourites also - with BBQs, bike tracks and large open spaces it is popular with all families in the region.
However sitting on the banks of the Tuggeranong Lake, there are also two parks which are becoming firm favourites in our family also. Within bike riding distance from each other, these parks also have the added advantage of being on the lake, so we can also include feeding the ducks in the day's activities.

Greenway park, great for older kids in particular.
First stop on our route is
Greenway Park. Located just off the Tuggeranong Parkway, with parking just off De Little Circuit, this modern park has a lot of variety for your young ones. With a pretend boat with springs underneath, basket swing, rope climbing frame, climbing area and slide, a see saw using balance each side and balance equipment, this playground has a lot to offer. Our daughter, Miss Four, can happily play on all equipment, but there should be something here for all ages.

...and a cool swing!
If your older kids love to scooter or ride their bikes, then it is a 1km bike ride (or a pram ride for the young ones) along the lake to the next park. Relatively flat, it is a safe and easy ride around the lake, sharing the path with the occasional runner or cyclist. From the park, walk towards the lake and turn left. Although we did this recently in winter, it would be an ideal activity for later in the afternoon in summer when it starts to get cooler and have a BBQ for dinner.

A flat path - perfect for scooters and little bikes.

BBQ area by the lake near the Sea Scouts Club and beach.
With plenty of birdlife around, if you pull out some bread they all come swooping in, so make sure you bring a lot.

Hopefully by now your kids don't have tired legs (and you have to carry their bike or scooter) but rest assured, it's not far away now before you can have a rest at the next park and watch them play.

You made it! Lake Tuggeranong District Park.
If you want to drive here instead,
Lake Tuggeranong District Park is located on Mortimer Lewis Drive, Greenway. This park is a bit older, however it has all the essentials for a playground with swing bridge, slide, swings and chairs for the parents. There is also a BBQ at this park, providing another option to stay a bit longer and enjoy the area.

Now for the trip back. If your kids are starting to run out of energy at this stage, there are seats along the lake that are a peaceful place to have a rest stop.

A rest and some water...
Closest to town centre is
Tuggeranong Town Park and Skate Park which is currently under renovation - watch this space for a review when it is open. With the promise of updated BBQ areas, foreshore, playground equipment and more, we look forward to it opening later this year.
With a new kids water park recently approved at "Lakeside Leisure" swimming pool next door, this whole area will be improving over the next few years. With so many families living in Tuggeranong, this will be a welcome addition to the community.
You will find Tuggeranong Town Park and Skate Park on Anketell St in Greenway.
So if you are a Tuggeranong local, driving through, or a family coming to visit, then these parks should keep your young ones entertained, and make them sleep well that night.
