Lake Goollelal is part of the Yellagonga Regional Park, which includes Lake Joondalup and surrounding wetlands as well. This lake is located in Kingsley in the northern suburbs.
There is a 4.5 km level paved path around this permanent lake. You can commence your walk from any point and return to your starting location.
As you wander around the lake you will see different types of vegetation - tuart trees, paperbark trees and many banksias about.
Being a shared path you may decide to cycle instead.
There is an observation platform on the western side where you can view many water birds.
On the eastern side of the lake there is a plaque to commemorate the location of Wesley Mission farm. This farm was established in 1844 by Rev. John Smithies to encourage Aboriginal people to learn agricultural skills.
Nearby is the historical remains of Luisini Winery, which the National Trust would like to develop as an educational and heritage facility .
A pleasant afternoon stroll for the whole family.
