Lake Annand in Toowoomba is surrounded by beautiful parklands with bridges, gorgeous trees, and ducks. It is also an ideal spot for families to visit, thanks to its extensive playground equipment that runs along the top of the grassy parkland area.

Beautiful Lake Annand Parklands lead up to a number of fantastic playground areas
These playgrounds are surrounded by gorgeous bottle trees, and genuinely do cater for children of diverse ages.

Beautiful bottle trees provide shade around some of the playground areas
The first playground area simply consists of this sculpture, that on closer inspection is revealed to be an intricate system of climbing walls. With so many sides, a number of children are able to participate in this activity together - who will reach the top first?

Moving along is this novel "sway fun" picnic area - users have the option of making it sway to feel like a boat on the ocean. Just keep those waterbottle lids on during your picnic!

Two larger playgrounds sit just beyond this. There are two pirate ships in the first of these. The first is a large wooden structure with a slide and various climbing options for older children, while "Scruffy" is a much smaller ship for toddlers to play on.

This awesome pirate ship includes climbing and sliding equipment for boat-loads of imaginary play!
The second large playground provides two large slides - one reached by easy-to-climb steps, while the other is more challenging to reach for older children. There is also a large blue climbing wall, and a set of swings.

The cleverly thought-out playground equipment is ideal for children of varying ages
By the time the kids have burnt their energy off on all of this playground equipment, they may be quite hungry. Lake Annand's parklands cater for this with a number of picnic tables and electric BBQs.

These are set around the system of lakes which are crossed by numerous bridges that are a pleasure for families to explore. While the ducks here are always grateful for a snack, be sure to bring salads or seeds for them rather than bread that will make them sick.

The lakes below the playground areas are inhabited by ducks who love to flock to children for a healthy snack
There is parking available at the end of Bright St, and street parking along Long St. A walking and bike path also traverses the parklands at Lake Annand, and goes directly past the playground areas.
