Lake Alexander is a man-made lake named in honour of Alec Fong Lim, who was Lord Mayor of Darwin from 1984 to 1990. This peanut-shaped lake is situate at 152 Alec Fong Lim Drive, East Point, about 6 Km north of downtown Darwin.

You can swim in this lake all year round because the water is filtered from the adjacent bay to prevent marine organisms from entering. You don't have to worry about saltwater crocodiles, bull sharks or deadly box jellyfish here.

Beside for swimming, Lake Alexander is popular for kayaking, canoeing and standup paddleboarding.

After swimming, you can freshen up yourself at the onsite shower facility. Plenty of shady trees nearby make the perfect spot for a picnic. There are also some undercover sitting areas and a free gas BBQ.

has an amazing walking track and a playground that is suitable for toddlers and older children. There is also outdoor exercise equipment here.

No entrance fee, plenty of free parking and a range of facilities make the best options for everyone. Please contact phone number (08) 8930 0300 if you have any queries regarding Lake Alexander.
