Lady Gaga - The Born This Way Ball (Melbourne)

Little Monsters, get your meat dress and 12-inch heels ready, Mother Monster is coming to Melbourne. Throughout late June and early July, Rod Laver Arena will be transformed into a dome of hysterical fans screaming for their idol and Queen of pop, Lady Gaga. After initially selling out her show in minutes, the hard working songstress has added a more dates to her Melbourne leg reaching 5 shows, the most in one city so far for her Born This Wall Ball Tour.

Although ticket prices are a tad on the dear side, you are guaranteed a big show, with a medieval castle stage that is said to be the "largest scenic structure that's ever been built to tour," according to US Weekly, which will not fail to impress. Gaga and her creative team, Haus of Gaga, have worked profusely for months developing this extravagant show. 110 shows to be exact.

"I always love rock and pop and theatre" says the Gaga and that is exactly what her fans should expect, nothing short from her characteristic 'shock art' style where nothing seems to be that shocking anymore. However, I am sure she will think of something. Next thing you know, she'll be walking around in a dress made of human hair with fish bowls for shoes and throwing tampons into the crowd.

Her last tour, The Monster's Ball, was a critical and commercial success, becoming the highest grossing tour ever from a debut artist and making more than $220 million US. The spectacle consisted of a dozen erratic costume changes, impressive dance numbers, theatrical performances and cross dressing and there will no doubt be parallels with her current tour, especially if Gaga's male alter ego, Joe Calderone, is involved. Already, despite the tour only just beginning, the Born This Way Ball has seen generally positive reviews with The Korean Herald commending the "innovative and breathtaking stage installations and ideas".

There is no doubt this Italian starlet has talent, performing since she was 14 and receiving early admittance to the prestigious Tisch School of Arts for college. Lady Gaga's natural talent has seen her working her way up from performing in New York bars to Queen Elizabeth II herself. What's more, she did it the old fashion way, having not used a television singing contest or a teen Disney show to help her along. The now 5-time Grammy winner has produced worldwide number 1 singles, "Just Dance" and "Poker Face", as well as hit singles, "Bad Romance", "Telephone" and "Alejandro". The Born This Way album is quite different to her past projects, glam rock-pop debut album, the Fame, and similar but darker, The Fame Monster, taking more of an electro-metal pop-opera approach.

Now I wasn't joking when I said get your meat dress ready! This year, Gaga has introduced her Monster's Pit, where the best dressed and early birds will get a pass to enter the prime spot of the performance, with the first person in line receiving a commemorative key. Also, every night, you will get the chance to meet the queen herself back stage! Knowing her devoted fans, you're going have to break out the egg capsule just to get noticed.
