It is said that in order to create a great love story it must contain an essence of tragedy within. It is, by no doubt, that 'Labor Day' ticks all the boxes making it a great tragic love story.

Within this movie is Adele (played by Kate Winslett) who is overcome by fear of leaving her home. Adele has a son called Henry (played by Gattlin Griffiths) who narrates the story of their experiences over this particular Labor Day Weekend.

Labor Day begins with the entrance of a man called Frank (played by Josh Brolin) who asks for a ride out of town. Adele initially objects, however Franks persuades her to follow through with his request. One soon learns that Frank had just escaped prison and with the police hot on the hunt for him, he ends up going to Adele's house.

The movie unfolds into a story of a woman who is a prisoner in her own house, a boy who has not had a father figure in his life and a man who lost a family through his own tragic experiences.

If you are looking for a movie with action, I can assure you that this will not tick any of the boxes. This is a tragic love story that will hit most of your emotional strings as you are drawn in a tale of three people in search of something more from life than the prisons they are in.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie; it is magnificently scripted so that the viewer can be drawn into a tale without the feeling of it being too long. It ticks all the boxes for me for a love story and it is a movie I would gladly watch again. I will give this movie 4 ½ stars out of 5.
