Oui oui, we have a new French bar on the block
The Parade in Norwood is a haven for local businesses that have come and gone over the past 5 years since I have been living in the suburb. Give it a couple of months and you'll find a new place that has found home on this short but versatile strip in the Eastern suburbs.

The latest business to join the Parade family is La Vigne, which is a cute little French bar that is a neighbour to its French cafe counterpart - La Madeleine.

La Vigne is now open in Norwood

La Vigne may have had a delay in opening their doors to the public in Norwood, but it has been impressive to see how beautiful the elements of the bar have come together nicely, just in time for summer.

The space has three sections to it - the front bar, the intimate indoor seating, and the open and free outdoor beer garden.
The front bar boasts of faux wooden panelling and minimalistic lighting details. The bar stocks a fine selection of French wines, but also has Australian beer and wines available for purchase.

The indoor seating provides with a reduced level of lighting, but is a perfect setting for small and big groups of people who visit the bar. There are comfortable lounges and a big table with stools that fill up the space. While it may be on the darker side than the rest of the place, the natural lighting brightens up the room during the day and provides for a beautiful view of the blue-themed beer garden.

Interior details

The beer garden has been decorated with a blue and white theme. A local artist painted the walls of the beer garden with the name of the place in elegant cursive writing. There is also a black mural of a tree caught in the wind, reflecting the sunshine that falls on the walls during the day. Overall, the beer garden is very inviting and has fresh red flowers, delicate French-themed furniture and booths for people to sit and enjoy their drinks under the sunshine.

There is an extensive cocktail menu available at La Vigne (obviously) and I was able to sample two drinks - one with Dolin Chamberyzette Aperitif and the other with homemade Armagnac (Old Fashioned).

Selection of wine and spirits

Served over ice with soda and lemon-lime bitters, The Aperitif is refreshing, subtle in its alcoholic taste, and bursts with berrylicious flavours.

Aperitif

The Armagnac (old fashioned) is a pre-made drink which is a modern twist on the classic Cognac on the rocks. A noticeably strong drink, the Armagnac tastes better when it's aged well in a bottle that has been lined with beeswax.

La Vigne in Norwood is "your local neighbourhood bar" that has been missing all this time. The customer service is exceptional, the space is quaint and inviting, and it is located right next to a fantastic patisserie.
