In the mood for hearty Italian food? Perhaps you should pop into La Tombola on Unley Road. I have now been there a few times over the recent years and haven't been disappointed once. I must admit the menu has pretty much remained the same over that time, but I guess when you have a menu or product that works, why not stick with it? After all, they have many food awards from the past on display to prove the restaurant's popularity.
The dishes are reasonably priced and the service is pretty good. I had a garlic bread for entree and that came out what seemed like no more than five minutes. Throughout our dinner, we also had waiters asking us how it was going and whether we needed anything else. For mains, my partner and I shared a chicken and mushroom risotto, along with a beef tortellini pasta with Italian salami. Both dishes we full of great flavours.

The only negative feedback that I could say from our experience was that the decor of the restaurant could probably use a new modern refurbishment. The furniture and chairs look like they have been there from since the 80s. If that doesn't bother you, I highly encourage you to give them a go. You shouldn't be disappointed.
I had a friend at school who's dad owned La tombola, and she worked there. I am not sure if it has changed hands (this was in 1990) But back then I ate there on several occasions and it was always great. I must try it again.
