La Selva Restaurant

The best restaurants are the quiet ones, don't you find? The humble, smaller restaurants that welcome newcomers and have open arms for their regulars? Such places serve unbeatable cuisine that has a genuine 'home-cooked' feel; you know the kind: rustic, well made, well-seasoned food that arrives at your table at the perfect temperature, made just the way you like. I stumbled upon one of those ...
Down a little side street in Catalonia (doesn't it sound romantic?) was the beautiful La Selva.
We sat outside underneath a canopy with beautiful trees leaves and fairy lights, and as we visited mid evening it was balmy yet mild and was an awfully authentic slice of Spain.
We were served by the lovely owner - a small Spanish man who modestly detailed that La Selva is a little family run company.
I ordered the steak, and have to say it was one of the best I've had in Spain. The meat was succulent, and juicy, my sides of grilled vegetables were slightly caramelised (because grilling intensifies and sweetens the flavour), and the potatoes (ooh the potatoes!)
They were buttery and slightly golden, and melt in your mouth good. Although it wasn't a large meal it was very filling, you wont leave hungry. La Selva pride themselves on using high-quality local produce and it is reflected in the quality of their meals, the regular customers, and the happy, relaxed environment we all dined in.
