It's time to farewell those macarons that have dominated our tea party platters and celebrate the triumphant return of that traditional French favourite, the éclair, courtesy of La Maison de L'éclair.
I do d'éclair that Laurence and Frederic Caillon, the creative chefs behind this new venture, have done for the éclair what Zumbo did for the macaron - giving it a complete makeover with the finished product exuding visual va-va-voom as well as being decadently delicious!
The savoury eclairs use both French and local flavours harmoniously
For those of you who remember the éclair as a simple patisserie, filled with the predictable chocolate, caramel or vanilla ganache cream, you're in for a surprise. You'll be tempted by flavours such as raspberry, pistachio, coconut, grand cru Ecuador, lemon meringue, salted caramel and mojito, to name a few. In addition to the sumptuous range of sweet éclairs, La Maison de L'éclair has also created a range of gluten-free savoury éclairs, filled with foie gras, smoked salmon, cheese and many other delicious French and local products.
Why not treat someone with a gift box or a special celebration creation
La Maison de L'éclair is located within strolling distance of Bondi Beach. Customers can sit and enjoy a little piece of Paris at the trendy indoor/outdoor café or, if on a tight schedule, you can take away. I did both!
If you're looking for something different to treat a special person, gift boxes can be prepared to order, including limited edition éclair boxes with edible words and graphics designed by you – great for corporate gifts, parties and functions. Special occasion éclair croquembouche can also be made to order.
A feast for the eyes as well as being decadently delicious
