Move on macaron, the eclair has made a triumphant return

It's time to farewell those macarons that have dominated our tea party platters and celebrate the triumphant return of that traditional French favourite, the éclair, courtesy of La Maison de L'éclair.

I do d'éclair that Laurence and Frederic Caillon, the creative chefs behind this new venture, have done for the éclair what Zumbo did for the macaron - giving it a complete makeover with the finished product exuding visual va-va-voom as well as being decadently delicious!

The savoury eclairs use both French and local flavours harmoniously

For those of you who remember the éclair as a simple patisserie, filled with the predictable chocolate, caramel or vanilla ganache cream, you're in for a surprise. You'll be tempted by flavours such as raspberry, pistachio, coconut, grand cru Ecuador, lemon meringue, salted caramel and mojito, to name a few. In addition to the sumptuous range of sweet éclairs, La Maison de L'éclair has also created a range of gluten-free savoury éclairs, filled with foie gras, smoked salmon, cheese and many other delicious French and local products.

Why not treat someone with a gift box or a special celebration creation

La Maison de L'éclair is located within strolling distance of Bondi Beach. Customers can sit and enjoy a little piece of Paris at the trendy indoor/outdoor café or, if on a tight schedule, you can take away. I did both!

If you're looking for something different to treat a special person, gift boxes can be prepared to order, including limited edition éclair boxes with edible words and graphics designed by you – great for corporate gifts, parties and functions. Special occasion éclair croquembouche can also be made to order.

A feast for the eyes as well as being decadently delicious

The word éclair means lightning in French. Fittingly, La Maison de L'éclair has struck a place in the market with great force thanks to its creative revival of this traditional patisserie.

It's been nice knowing you, macaron, but I've found a new love. So "choux" to you as I enjoy this new orgastronomic experience.

To read more about La Maison de L'éclair and feast your eyes on its range of sublime éclairs, go to the website then treat yourself and your tastebuds to a visit - you know you want to.

Hopefully the ghastly macaron will now disappear for good. Eclairs are no more healthy but certainly more delicious!
