Sometimes it's so easy to lose ourselves in the whirlwind pace of our studying and working lives that we forget the need to unwind. Well, if you're searching for a solution to temporarily escape the hustle and bustle of city living, then La La Land Lounge Bar (wow, try saying that really quickly over and over, it's hard) just might be the perfect antidote. Tucked away on the corner of Hardware and Little Lonsdale Street, La La Land is one of the CBD's best hideaway venues.
Contrary to what the name suggests, this is not a dull, boring place where you find yourself snoozing the night away. Rather, the quirky name carries with it the promise of comfort and ambience for a relaxing night ahead. La La is filled with plenty of big, comfy leather couches, and the orange and yellow lighting inside gives the place a warm glow. Once inside, it feels like you're relaxing in your very own big lounge room (with other people). There is music playing in the background, but it's usually kept to an appropriate level where you can still carry on a conversation with someone, or simply just curl up on a couch and let the music soothe your weary soul. I loved the fact that in here, you could literally tuck your feet under you and enjoy a nice drink and great heart-to-heart talks with your friends, all the while feeling completely at ease.
In terms of food and drinks, there is a reasonable selection of international and local beers, red and white wines as well as an assortment of snacks available, like gourmet pizzas. The barman is also always happy to whip up a cocktail on request.
Places like La La Land offer us a genuine haven to withdraw from our hectic lives. In here, time slows down, and you find yourself loosening up in the most pleasurable ways. We all need a break sometimes, so do yourself a favour and treat yourself to a relaxing night out, you know you deserve it.
