I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.

Emma Stone & Ryan Gosling star in this homage to the Hollywood musicals of old. There is a joyfulness and naïveté to this film. Although winning critical acclaim it has suffered from a lot of negative press. I prefer to make up my own mind, so the more people that didn't like it made me more determined to see it. I was so pleased to view it on the big screen as I found it captivating.

La La Land is beautifully filmed with a great soundtrack. Although set in modern day Hollywood, it has the feel of a classic musical such as Singin' In The Rain. The story is about two lost souls who find and lose each other whilst chasing their dreams.

See Your Name In Lights

This movie does not take itself too seriously and the two stars have an easy rapport. The dancing and singing is not top notch, but I feel that it adds to the charm.

A Romance Is Born

We don't learn a lot about the characters or their motivation but are taken on a quickstep through the ups and downs of their relationship. Mia and Sebastian are an unlikely couple, but their attraction is undeniable. La La Land is over two hours but I did not think it was too long,

If you are prepared to let yourself go with the flow and enjoy the moment, you may find yourself dancing out of the cinema as you hum the theme song. I know I did!
