As we walked into the courtyard of La Hacienda 101, a distinct feeling of a Latin fiesta surrounded us. Maybe it was the lively Mexican music, maybe it was the rainbow coloured tablecloths and sombreros decorating the walls, or maybe it was just something in the salty air. Anyway, we sat at a table lit by a glowing Corona bottle, ordered Margaritas and settled in for a great night out.
La Hacienda 101 is located two minutes walk from Emerald Beach, which is an ideal swimming/surfing spot and home to a mob of resident kangaroos. You can choose between indoor or outdoor seating, with large sprawling lounges to lie back on after too many Margaritas.
The concept of a traditional Mexican "hacienda" is a place where the surrounding community come for nourishment on many levels, so the sign on the wall informed us. This homely hacienda offered a classic Mexican menu with chicken, beef, pork or vegetarian burritos (plain or fried), enchiladas, tortillas, nachos, tacos, and ever popular quesadillas for the kids.
An unusual dessert was a highlight for our family, which was a large share plate dripping with Chocolate nachos (highly recommended for all the sweet tooths out there). The Chocolate Chimichanga also sounded amazing, so we'll have to try that next time.
Our whole experience at La Hacienda 101 was extremely positive and we look back on our holiday photos with fond memories of a great family night out. The staff were super helpful and the laid back vibe meant children could easily fit into the scene.
