La Fontana Trattoria is a restaurant that serves to cook Italian food the old traditional way - on a open fire. Eating the food, it feels like you are experiencing the true Italian experience. Slightly burnt edges of its pizzas and the thin lining of the pizza base gives the feeling that you are eating a traditional, home-cooked meal in Italy itself.

As you enter the restaurant, it is not to notice the display of the water fountain outside the entrance of the restaurant. As you sit outside the restaurant, the sounds of the water fountain can be heard as if its a few inches away. Sunlight reflected off the fountain giving the flowing water that crystallised image which contrasts with the white lining for its dining tables, creating a sense of consistency.

As you enjoy the meal, you can watch the life that emanates in the main street of Leichardt. Couples walking down the street arm in arm. Bike riders swerving in and out of crowds of people. Across the street, you can see historical houses that are seemingly clumped together. Certainly, the location lends itself to a sense of sophistication.
