Picnic paradise on the Mooloolah River
Parks fit for a picnic do not come much better than this. La Balsa Park in Buddina on the Sunshine Coast has to be the near-perfect place to unwind and relax with family and friends.

Around the corner from Point Cartwright, right on the entrance to the Mooloolah River and opposite the one on La Balsa cafe, this is one scenic spot sure to impress anyone who has never been here before and remind those who do live here exactly why they love the Coast.

There's something for everyone here - sit down and watch the kids play in the playground, sit on the river's edge and watch the boats come in and out, fire up one of the park's many BBQs, make good use of the open space and play a game or just enjoy the plentiful shade on offer.

My one bit of advice for anyone hoping to grab a prime picnic spot here - be quick. There are plenty of picnic tables available but you've got to be quick getting down to the park to snag one. Don't be discontent with just a spot on the grass though, since there is plenty of shade on offer you'll never mind.

It may come as no surprise but La Balsa Park is also popular for events and even weddings. With its beautiful background it's no surprise why though. The rotunda is always in demand and the Sunshine Coast Council say it's imperative that anyone looking to hold a ceremony have the correct permit.

La Balsa Park offers plenty - it's a scenic spot that's perfect for a quiet day by the river's edge watching the world go by.

Great article. I wouldn't know about many of these places had I not read about them in WeekendNotes. I think you may mean 'imperative' that people have the right permit for ceremonies rather than 'impervious'.

Shame there is absolutely no parking available due to the amount of people thereon the weekends. Sunshine coast in general doesn't have the infastructure for the thousands of people it attracts
