Located in the Chinatown district of Adelaide's CBD and opposite the entrance of the Central Market Arcade, Ky Chow is great value for money restaurant. We lived very close to the Central Market and passed this Chinese restaurant almost every day. In the beginning we did not dare to go in – too crowded and lively. But one day we jumped over and gave the restaurant a chance. We have no regrets, since we visit this place almost weekly.
Their food, service and price have convinced us. And it seems, not only us. Especially on weekends, you better book a table and not just turn up and try your luck. We often observed a queue that ran to the front door. The service is friendly and fast. You do not have to wait long until they take your order. Sometimes a little too fast! The selection of Chinese food is large, ranging from entrees and soups, a variety of meat dishes (duck, quail, chicken, beef and pork), seafood dishes, Chinese casseroles and last but not least, Chef's Recommendations. Even Vegetarians are not neglected. The décor is simple but cosy. They are fully licensed and offer BYO for $ 6 per bottle. Two rotary tables for bigger groups are also available. And if you like to eat outside on a warm day, just take a seat at one of the tables to the small alfresco area.
We like to visit this place because of their tasty food and moderate prices. Meanwhile, we are used to the lively atmosphere. In my opinion, they serve authentic Chinese food. Because of this fact, you see a lot of Asian people in the restaurant. Unfortunately we moved to a place that is too far away to visit Ky Chow once a week. We will miss it for sure.
My favourite meal: We've tried out some of the Chinese dishes, but our favourites are - String Bean in Peking Style (Chef's recommendation) Stir fried Prawns with Ginger and Shallot (Seafood dishes) Crispy Spicy Chicken (Chef's recommendation) – Hot Hot Hot!!!
