Kuan Yin Tea House

While I am not a vegetarian or vegan I love eating great vegetable dishes. a combination of faux meat dishes as well as straightforward vegetarian meals as well as vegan desserts.
China has a tradition of making fake meat dishes as part of the requirement that on Buddhist holy days you don't eat meat. So it is very common to find these types of dishes in restaurants next to temples in China.
Given that the tea house is named after Kuan Yin or (Guanyin), the bodhisattva associated with compassion in East Asian Buddhism, we can assume that this restaurant is popular with many Brisbane Buddhists. The dishes includes Chinese, Thai and Japanese dishes.
The dishes we did try were absolutely fantastic and I would highly recommend the noodles and the Takoyaki. It is also a good place to take a vegetarian friend when you don't really want to eat vegetables yourself.
The stand out at this restaurant are the vegan desserts. Personally I avoid desserts at vegan restaurants but I was tempted in trying some here and they were excellent. I recommend the mango heaven though the desserts I didn't have a chance to try also looked equally delicious.
