Ku De Ta is a trendy establishment situated in the beach front of the busy tourist location of Seminyak. A fairly Western looking establishment, with elements of Eastern infused in the architecture and friendly staff make Ku De Ta a sight seeing delight for vacationists.
The moment you pull up to Ku De Ta you know you are in for a treat, the authentic wicker décor and lanterns in the soaring trees illuminate the entrance and upon arrival you are greeted by the Balinese wait staff. They will direct you to the stunning outdoor cocktail area, which is a view to remember. You enter through the large open space and immediately see the water feature situated at the centre of the establishment.
Many travellers have come here to enjoy a beverage and the seaside view that takes on a whole new visual presence when the sun sets. The best spot to enjoy your cocktail and the view is on the lush, grassy knoll.
There are many of the local women and men who will try and sell you kites, beads, sarongs, scarfs, sunglasses who are on the beach, but are kept in check by the security at Ku De Ta. If you are interested in purchasing any items, it is best you do this through the beach sellers. I know I felt sorry for them trekking up and down the ridiculously hot beach from 6am to 12am with layers of clothing on (as sunscreen is at a shocking price and often unaffordable to them).
The cocktail menu is extensive, I settled on a
Lychee and rose martini, which was delicious, whilst my partner choose the standard
Bintang. We enjoyed the stunning sunset and counted ourselves lucky to be witnessing such a sight. If you venture to Ku De Ta for the sunset ensure that you are dressed in a t-shirt (for men) as singlets are not allowed after lunchtime. It is best to come smart casual.
Ku De Ta is priced slightly cheaper than a cocktail bar in Australia, so it is good for a little indulgent visit. You won't regret any penny spent here.
