Do not miss out on doughnut
The one snack I often look for whilst in Melbourne city is Krispy Kreme's apple custard crumble doughnut. It is somewhat like a doughnut version of an apple pie. It is filled with juicy spiced apple custard and topped with vanilla biscuit crumble pieces.
Other doughnuts range from chocolate, caramel, strawberry and blueberry to traditional cinnamon and original glazed. For a limited time, special seasonal doughnuts are also available. The current specials are its tropical summer pineapple and mango doughnuts.
All doughnuts are freshly made and therefore best eaten fresh on the first day. However, if need be, they can be frozen in sealed airtight packages and then reheated in the microwave for eight seconds.
Krispy Kreme has come a long way since its original store opening in North Carolina in 1937. Today there are multiple stores in multiple cities and countries. In Melbourne city, you can obtain these doughnuts from its Collins Street and Swanston Street stores almost any time of the day. They both have long opening hours.
The Collins Street store is open from 6.30am to 11pm weekdays, from 8am to 11pm on Saturdays and from 9am to 11pm on Sundays. The Swanston Street store is open from 7.30am to 10pm weekdays (Fridays until midnight), from 9am to midnight on Saturdays and from 9am to 10pm on Sundays. Perfect for that quick breakfast before heading into the office. It served me well during my two-day interstate conference.
