Bi Bim Bap & Kimchi @ Korean Garden (photo instagram @neelsmcgee)
When I think of Amsterdam, Asian food is usually not in my thoughts, however after finding myself hunting for a lunch spot after putting together a trade stand at an expo at
Amsterdam Rai, I found myself walking into an establishment called
Korean Garden. I am glad I did.
Located just a short walk from
Amsterdam Rai (the enormous exhibition centre) is this petite restaurant where the service and quality of food is divine.
As I am huge fan of Korean I decided to order one of their traditional dishes called a
Bi Bim Bap and a side of
Kimchi (pickled chilli cabbage that falls from the heavens).
After placing my order it was out in roughly 10 minutes and proved to be a good choice. With the stone bowl sizzling and my raw egg slowly cooking, I took my chopsticks and worked in my egg with the rice and vegetables.
The serving size was ample, what you usually expect from Asian cuisine, you always get your moneys worth. the kimchi was also a decent portion….unlike
Wagamama's at Camden that serve a pathetic amount enough for a baby chihuahua.
The food was fresh and did take awhile for me to work through, however on completion I was very satisfied.
If you are feeling a little more experimental there are other items on the menu that may tickle your fancy such as their club sandwich range with mouthwatering fillings such as;
Chicken kimchi, Chicken bulgogi and
Kesul chun (crabstick with remoulade).
If you find yourself in Amsterdam take a trip to
Korean Garden, you will not be disappointed.
