My 7yo co-author and I are freelance writers living in astounding Western Australia. We love where we live, we explore it, we embrace it, and we write about it.

Special Book Store spiritual literature
Koorong is a rather specialised bookshop, offering its visitors all sorts of special items, in some way or other related to religion. There are shelves of books, including motivational, religious and the like, offering a wide variety of choices. There is also a multitude of CD records that you can listen to before proceeding to the checkout. One can also find all there is to have for a christening or a baptising ceremony, as well as lots of other touching gifts, from your well known Willow Tree figurines to tea cups, t-shirts, artwork etcetera.

The store also has a huge kids section dedicated to toys, books, puzzles, party needs, craft and the like. For active children, however, there is an enclosed outdoor playground of a reasonable size. It is fenced off and can only be entered from the inside of the shop.

Right next to the playground entrance, there is a little in-door café, where one can purchase a cup of coffee with something sweet or indeed something a little more substantial to eat.
It is naturally very peaceful inside. Some visitors are reading books in quiet corners on sofas, others listen to the music (in headphones of course).

Obviously a little too specialised for general liking, this shop, tacked away at the very bottom of the Walcott Street in Mount Lawley is certainly a pearl for a spiritual soul.

For others – there are pretty amazing Christmas Books, and "kids'-free" coffee.

My co-author Elizaveta, (7yo), spent most of the time on the playground, and subsequently commented as follows:

"I think this place is pretty entertaining. And it has lots of interesting books too".

Koorong is an amazing bookshop! When shopping for gifts, it is hard to visit without coming out with something for oneself.
