Koorliny Arts Centre in Kwinana is gearing up for another exciting year with a big line-up of acts on offer, from family shows and musical theatre, to comedy, concerts and drama, as well as author talks and dance festivals.

Musicals take centre stage in the Koorliny Arts Centre and Kwinana Industries Council 2016 Performance Season, with Side by Side by Sondheim (June) and Monty Python's Spamalot (August) among those set to delight audiences of all ages. Koorliny's reputation as a go-to place for affordable, top-quality productions is underpinned by the many Finley Award nominations and awards it has received for its shows. At the 2015 Finley Awards, the centre was awarded the Yvonne Hough Neilson Memorial Award for "sustained excellence in staging
outstanding musicals over many years and for being a significant cultural destination in the Kwinana area". The centre also scored three wins from an incredible 21 nominations for the Koorliny Arts Centre and Kwinana Industries Council 2015 Performance Season, with two of its three musicals – The Musical of Musicals: The Musical and Disney's Beauty and the Beast – placing in the Top 5 musicals for the year. Its recent production of Disney's The Little Mermaid was described by Stage Whispers as a "sumptuous production, beautifully directed and amazingly costumed that deserves its sell-out houses".

Koorliny also brings in a variety of touring shows to deliver something for everyone. Families will be spoilt for choice, with slapstick comedy from The Kazoos' Teddy Bears Picnic show and theatrical retellings of much-loved books The Peasant Prince and Snugglepot and Cuddlepie .

Other touring shows include Performing Lines and Malthouse Theatre's They Saw a Thylacine , the Melbourne Comedy International Festival Roadshow , and HIT Productions' Educating Rita and Always..Patsy Cline .

Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Neil Diamond and Rod Stewart tribute acts are part of the Morning Melodies program, with shows on the second Friday of each month, starting with morning tea at 10am.

Stories on Stage is back for 2016, kicking off with Perth authors Laurie Steed and Susan Midalia on March 16. Other authors already confirmed for the 2016 program include Rachael Johns, Natasha Lester, Liz Byrski, Dianne Touchell and Deb Fitzpatrick. These events include a home-baked supper, readings, book signings and meet and greets. They are a fantastic opportunity to meet authors in a theatre setting.
