Learn about wild foods
Koonyum Visions classes are held on the Organic Farm at Wilsons Creek, 15 kms inland from Mullumbimby.
During the 'Wild Food' one day course, you will be introduced to new ways of adding to your weekly food supply. Surrounded by the towering Koonyum escarpment you will walk the fields finding and sampling the many plants which to some can be called weeds, but in this class, their usefulness is re-identified as 'Wild Food'.
Trained in Permaculture, Andy Drew, your host, is experienced in the propagation, properties, uses and preparation of these foods, to be used in a meal, or even as herbs to ease symptoms. We do not all need to live out of town to find most of these, as many are equally found in backyards.
During our one day class, we were treated to delicious samples of herbs as part of a prepared lunch and snacks for morning and afternoon tea. We took home an ointment healing for the skin, which we made with herbs from the garden. At Koonyum Visions there are three one day courses available; 'Pattern Nature' and 'Plant Guardians and Holistic Seed Raising', and 'Wild Food, Medicine and Survival'.
There are more courses to come soon for those interested in bush foods, horticulture, permaculture, sustainability and healthy living. These courses are a unique addition to learning and the experience of wild healthy foods at a personal level and not just theory.
