This is the ideal day out. Not far from Brisbane, approximately 60 kms up the Bruce Highway and along good roads, it is an easy day trip. Head to the Maleny - Montville Road, travel through Montville and continue on the road which changes names to Main Street and then Flaxton Drive. Approximately 2.6km north of Montville, turn left onto Kondalilla Falls Road and travel another 700m to the park entrance.
There are several areas and parts of the park that you can choose to visit, depending on how active and able your team is. There is a pleasant picnic place almost immediately which might be ideal for grandparents who don't want to hike too far, or families with very young families, though these days they all seem to travel on a pouch on mum or dad quite happily however rough the terrain. I saw several on our walk.
There is the short Picnic Creek Circuit of 1.7kms or the Kondalilla Falls circuit which is 4.7kms. There is a Borron Lookout walk of 4.4 kms and a Narrows lookout of 2.2kms.
We chose the Kondalilla Falls Circuit of 4.7kms which was a fairly easy walk on good paths but please note, there are many steps for those whose knees may not be up to it. We met many happy faces along the paths and stopped at various locations along the route to admire the scenery, paddle our toes in the water or look at the flowers, the trees and the occasional bird.
