Try their indulgent new menu
Tucked into the Royal Arcade, just off Bourke St, Koko Black is now serving up so much more than their signature chocolate range with the launch of their new lounge menu. While Koko Black is renowned for their indulgent chocolate offerings, they've recently released a new seasonal menu created by Head Chocolatier and product innovation manager, Remco Brigou.

We popped in to check out the new menu which has new fresh baked treats such as vanilla custard and chocolate brioche, raspberry French almond cake and chocolate and hazelnut cake paired up with many of their traditional favourites which chocolate lovers flock to Koko Black to enjoy.

We went for the full indulgence and sampled their dessert degustation for two and were amply treated with a variety of Koko Black's newest creations.

Some of the new desserts on offer also include the Black Forest gateau, the most indulgent with a 73% dark chocolate mousse and centre of sour cherry jelly on a base of rich chocolate sponge with whipped vanilla ganache.

Another newbie is the apple and tonka gateau with crunchy caramelised apples; chocolate and hazelnut gateau, a rich flourless chocolate brownie with layers of buttery hazelnut and vanilla crémeux; and caramel delice, a luscious caramelised milk chocolate mousse, crisp chocolate crust and a centre of salted caramel and creamy white chocolate.

Lovers of Koko Black's traditional menu will still find their favourites including classics such as Dr Marty's Crumpets and the chocolate and salted caramel tart.

And who can turn away their delicious range of hot chocolates with new flavours now including vanilla bean marshmallow; rocky road; salted cashew nut brittle; and Tasmanian leatherwood honeycomb. Although it's the chilli chocolate that's still my personal fave!

Koko Black also has their handmade chocolates menu where you can pick and choose a variety of your favourites and if dad has a sweet tooth, they've even launched speciality milk stout and dark rum flavoured chocolates to treat your favourite guy (they also pair well with Koko Black's traditional Whiskey chocolate!)

Here's the best bit. if you're a sweet tooth and you're dining companion is a bit 'meh' on sweets, there's a brand new range of savoury lunch items on the menu including toasted sandwiches featuring fillings of chicken and avocado, Cuban pork; Italian meatball; and goat's cheese and caramelised onion. Everybody wins!

And if you don't have time to sit and indulge, there's always plenty of chocolates on offer in the retail shop too.
