The , to be held on Saturday April 5, is an event that The Wilderness Society hopes will help protect koalas in our state that are soon to be faced with a loss of habitat. It isn't a single picnic, but a collection of smaller events all over New South Wales.

The event entails anyone and everyone heading down to their local park with food, blankets and some friends. The Society then asks that you take a picture of your group with a banner with Save Out Forests on it and upload it onto the Facebook page .

The aim of getting everyone to do so is to let the government know that the public is not happy that it has changed the law (the protection of the Environment Operations (General) Regulation specifically) so that whole standing trees can be cut down for electricity, and that it is concerned about the effects such an alteration could have on koala habitats. Koalas do not find knew homes as easily as some might think, and can get disoriented after one of their 'home trees' gets cut down, leaving them at risk.
