Entry to Bushland Escape, my photo

Phillip Island is home to three nature parks – and one of them is the Koala Conservation Reserve . Much like the Penguin Parade, this is a place for the safety and conservation of the wonderful koala. During your visit, you can wander through the two tree-top boardwalks, trying to spot koalas in the trees – and get close to them as they nap, munch on leaves or watch you watching them, which is very cute.

The first boardwalk is called the Tree Top Koala Boardwalk and is an 800-metre loop which should take you twenty minutes and is an easy, flat walk.

The second boardwalk is called the Tree Top Woodland Boardwalk, which is an easy 600-metre loop, and should also le 20 minutes. Whilst you’re here, you can also explore six hectares of Australian bushland, and encounter butterflies and fairy wrens flitting around with easily accessible trails. Be careful in the heat, though, and make sure you wear sunscreen, a hat, good shoes and have water with you. And keep an eye out for wallabies, echidnas and all sorts of colourful native birds. Once you’ve completed your adventure, grab a drink and snack at the Manna Gum Café.

Whilst you’re here, you can also find out more about the lives of koalas with interactive displays at the visitors centre, and find out about community groups like Friends of the Koala or Barb Martin Bushbank and what they do to help the local wildlife. Plus, you get free access to the Nature Play area, where kids can have fun adventures with nature and wildlife installations.
When you visit, remember to bring:

- Sunscreen
- Hat
- Sunglasses
- Reusable water bottle
- Insect repellent
- Binoculars

There are several options to explore the park, and the options have been taken fro the website:

When I visited, I spotted five koalas during my visit, as well as a fairy wren on a very hot day, so make sure you come prepared for the weather. The koalas can be tricky to spot, so keep your eyes peeled for them, and for other wildlife that flits about the park as you explore it, which can take up to an hour depending on your pace and what you are doing. This is a fabulous nature park that is filled with adventure and education, and a great day or morning out for the whole family.
