Looking for a night out over the weekend but don't feel like travelling into the city or to other hot spots like Prahran or St Kilda and such like? If you're not looking for a full-on night of clubbing, you're in luck, especially if you live in the south eastern suburbs or thereabouts.

Believe it or not, Westfield Knox shopping centre is a great little spot for some after-hours entertainment. With Village Cinemas on the premises, it's surrounded by a huge variety of eateries on the one strip along with an Irish pub and a couple of bars. The evening/night on weekends is always teeming with people bringing the place to life.

I sometimes enjoy a good Grill'd vegetarian burger and I love their chips which has a dose of herbs sprinkled through it. The staff at the Knox branch are always friendly as is the manager. Even while they're busily delivering orders they sometimes take the time to stop and ask if everything is OK.

Vegetarian burgers are around $12 and meat burgers $16. They also have kid's meals for around $8 that comes in a mini me cardboard box packed with a little burger, small chips, a water or a container of juice; your choice, and some colouring pencils and printed paper. With movies costing $20 ish, Grill'd's deal of burger and movie for $25 makes it very attractive.

They are however not the only ones with the movie meal deal. Rolld next door to them also have a similar deal to go with their Vietnamese street food. As you can see from all the pictures, the number of eateries are phenomenal for a little strip. Not pictured just outside the strip there are the usual McDonalds and KFC as well. Spoilt for choice.

Nudle is another place I've frequented when I'm feeling like something asian. I love their beautiful paintings of Buddha on the wall and their special meal deal of around $17 which I share with my daughter. For that you get a can of cool drink, an entrée and a main. I usually have the Roti Chanai because I love the big soft folds of roti that goes with a lovely curry.

I have yet to try a different eatery each time, but I can't seem to go past my favourites. Meals along the strip ranges from $10 to $20 a meal and the Irish pub at the cinema end of the strip is always filled with patrons. So the next time you're out and about and looking for some entertainment, give Knox a go!
