That time of the year has come around again, where Brisbane's funny bone is tickled by a diverse bunch of comedians at the Brisbane Comedy Festival and Knockoff free comedy hour, hosted by the home of contemporary culture, the Brisbane Powerhouse, in New Farm. This is a great outing to take your cranky friends or workmates to let out some giggles.
From the foyer of the Brisbane Powerhouse, you will find adjacent the Turbine Platform, a theatrical space for live performance and you will also find the bar. Just remember to pronounce Chardonnay correctly or you may end up with a cardigan, not some form of alcoholic beverage. Just kidding. Don't worry, you can expect the jokes will be a lot more humorous during a Happy Hour of Knockoff.
Last year, the acts were diverse with each comedian bringing something different to the show. It was great to watch emerging and independent comedians find their niche in the comedy scene. There were peals of laughter from the audience and my abs were getting a good workout too. This year, there will be some surprise acts from the Brisbane Comedy Festival at Knockoff. Will it be Will Anderson, Matt Okine, Luke Heggie, Becky Lucas or Demi Lardner? Who knows, could be a huge surprise.

Following Knockoff comedy hour, you may want to make a dinner reservation at Watt's Restaurant or Bar Alto both nestled in a great riverside location, next to the Brisbane Powerhouse. Last year, we made a booking at Watt's Restaurant and I ordered a share plate of modern Australian cuisine for the table, followed by dessert, before attending another comedy show scheduled around 8:30 pm. This year, I believe you will have less time between shows and you may just want to visit the HAHA popup bar from 6 pm at the Brisbane Powerhouse plaza. Otherwise, you could book a tailored corporate entertainment package, through the Brisbane Powerhouse directly.
