Have you always been creative, already knitted a scarf and wanted to try something new? Even if you have never knitted before, might I suggest knitting a scarf, then try a beanie. Look no further as it is perfect in winter to start knitting beanie and what a better time to knit for various not for profit organisations.

My first project was a scarf, then a cushion for the lounge, but now I have found that I want to knit a beanie - I found a great pattern in Better Homes and Gardens magazine; it has a two page advertisement from Cleckheaton giving you the website and then you download the beanie pattern.

You can experiment with different designs and colours; why not make one for a family member, friend, charity organisation!

Once you have finished the knitting - just think that you made it all yourself.

If you get stuck, Youtube have a lot of tutorials to help you or even your mum or grandma can help you! I find it is such a special moment between a mum and child to share a special project - or why not ask your mum to knit something and make time to spend time with your mum or a special person in your life to complete the knitting together.

Or another option is get girlfriends together and start a knitting party and teach each other to knit. Leave the boys at home and have a girl's night.

Set up a blog so that you can show others what you have made and your followers could even share knitting patterns on the blog.

Remember, just enjoy yourself, don't stress - you could even find it relaxing. So sit back on the lounge make yourself comfy and start knitting - I know you will enjoy it.

Happy knitting everyone.
From a fellow knitter.
