A sea of orange at Queensbridge Square, 1A Queensbridge Street, Southbank can only mean one thing. It's the 11th annual event of the KLM Dutch Orange Day . Sunday 26 April 2015 from 10am to 4pm is the date and time you're looking for, and entry is free.

Join the Dutch community in celebrating King's Day ('Koningsdag'), their national holiday. The theme this year is 'Taste of Holland' and the festival will showcase a wide range of Dutch cuisine. The Dutch street food on offer includes the well known 'poffertjes' (Dutch pancakes), seafood (herring, mussels and fish nuggets), stroopwafels, traditional mash-pot dishes, pea soup, beef croquettes, cheese toasties, sweet treats, imported grocery products and more.

KLM Dutch Orange Day was established in 2004 and is a non-profit organisation. Through events such as this, it raises awareness of the Dutch community and its culture to the Victorians. All proceeds from the day go to their charity partner DutchCare Ltd.

There'll be plenty of activities for the kids that include games and face paintings. There'll also be performances and entertainment and an old fashioned Free Market ('Vrijmarket').

  • SILENT AUCTION OF RETURN FLIGHT TO AMSTERDAM
  • An online charity auction for a ticket to Amsterdam. is on the cards. KLM have offered one return flight from any major airport in Australia to Amsterdam. All proceeds from this silent auction will go to DutchCare , an aged care facility.

  • KINGSNIGHT
  • At the end of the day if you're still not done partying, Dutch Orange Day have teamed up with the main sponsor Bavaria Beer along with Veuve Cicquot and Pulse Radio to bring you the largest 'Kingsnight' event in the Southern Hemisphere with a very special mystery guest who will be announced on the day.

(Sunday 26 April 2015, 6pm to 2am Monday morning) is the date and time to remember. This is a special edition charity event and the dress code is orange. PLEASE NOTE: There will be a relaxed door policy at this premium venue but those who do not wear anything Orange will not be able to enter the venue.

Tickets are available through Pulse Radio website, or you can click here to purchase tickets. The venue is MS Collins on 425 Collins street. Doors open at 6pm.

There's a very special mystery guest, which will be announced on the day and the only clue being given away is that this DJ has made quite a mark around the world and will be playing an exclusive Dutch classics set. The night will take you on a royal journey filled with music from Dutch producers and DJ's ranging from house, techno, progressive to trance. This is a one-off event that's likely to sell out beforehand so get in early if you don't want to miss out. For VIP booth packages, please enquire via private message.

The DJ lineup is as follows: -

  • "Mystery Guest" (Major label, Dutch Classics Set)
  • Thomas Hayes
  • Pinkque
  • LLout
  • Marcus Holder

  • VOLUNTEERS
  • An event at this scale cannot go ahead without the help of the many generous volunteers. The DOD (Dutch Orange Day) is again in need of your time and your helping hands. If you're interested in helping to plan, organise and manage this event, please send a brief email to [email protected] and outline your interests and experiences and include your contact details.

Sounds like a really packed out day with lots to see and do, so take advantage of this annual event and join in the festivities. Cheers.
