As part of the Gaza Sports and Community club redevelopment a new family area has been built next to the sports ground on OG Road.
It's a large place, consisting of a grassed area, large playground, undercover tables with barbecues, bench seats, an amenities block and water fountains. In short - it has everything needed for a family outing or gathering.
The grassed area is very large and open, with a single tree in the centre. It is also very flat and well cared for, making it perfect for ball games, picnics or anything else.
The landing areas are quite soft and the whole is decorated with rock creeks, as well as lights for later in the day. Once the plants become more established, there will be an impressive amount of shade.
Cricket nets and tennis courts are also present, and there is adequate lighting for use of the facilities late in the day. There is even a paved path that circles the actual oval for running or cycling, adding an extra dimension to the whole place.
And finally, the barbecue areas are more than adequate, though a few more bins wouldn't go astray. And, more to the point, they actually work!
A working BBQ! (Thanks to the nice people who let me photograph their meat...)
