This picturesque circular bay is synonymous with fishing, surfing, swimming and the SS Speke Shipwreck and is located 500 metres within Watts Point and Kennon Head. The bay is reasonably sheltered by reef stones which makes for shallow waters when it's low tide, allowing you to walk into the bay for quite a distance. For surfers the best waves can be found beyond the reef during high tide.

During low-tide which would be early morning, it's a great period to explore the rock pools and if you're lucky enough you might come across some small stingrays. The rock pools are also great for snorkelling.

Towards the eastern side of the bay lies a sort of stone terrace that looks like the scene in Star Wars: The Force Awakens where Rey finds Luke Skywalker. The gloomy weather made me feel like I was in Ireland, braving the strong winds looking out to sea. There are also some mini structures that people have created by balancing rocks, and it's unfathomable how the wind hasn't knocked them down.

One of the hallmarks of Kitty Miller Bay is the SS Speke Shipwreck, which is about a 15 minute walk from the car park. When you're at the beach turn left and follow the track. You'll come to a relatively steep hill, take this route as walking along the rocks is tedious and takes longer. When you get to the end of the track it'll be a steep climb down to the shipwreck so do watch your step; I highly recommend good runners or boots.

And when you get to the bottom you'll see the ghostly remains of the SS Speke which has been resting there since 1906 when it crashed into some rocks during a terrible storm. The wreckage does offer some great photo opportunities, and again make sure to go there when it's low tide.

HOW TO GET THERE
Coming into Phillip Island, Phillip Island Road breaks into a fork with Back Beach Road on the left, take the Back Beach Road, and stay on it till you see Kitty Miller Road on the left. Follow it all the way down to the car park.
