Kites and Bikes Festival

Locals and visitors are invited to Brunswick Heads, where all day on Sunday, March 24 Australia's biggest kites will grace the skies. Brunswick Heads is a sleepy little north coast (New South Wales) town and the perfect location to host the Kites and Bikes Festival.

Kites:

The beach and foreshore of Brunswick Heads promises to be awash with colour and excitement, with Kite surfing, Kite buggying and Kite stunt flying demonstrations by Kite Magic and South East Queensland Kite Fliers scheduled. There will be a community kite "fly in", where everyone who has made a kite on the day are invited to fly their creation together. For something different, from 3pm-4pm, Hotel Brunswick will host the Rokkaku Kite Fighting Challenge, where a business and a community group will team up to see who will be the last kite remaining.

Bikes:

Brunswick Heads is a fun place to cycle, so there will be some activities for cyclists on the day too - with a decorated bike parade, a bike expo and trail bike demonstrations from Expressive Bikes. There will be bike maintenance workshops, bike safety activities and games and a bike skills circuit in closed off Terrace Road for children. Plenty of live entertainment will take place throughout the day - Jumping Castle, market stalls, massage tent, Circus Arts Performance, The Malvern All Star performance, Samba Blisstas, a push up challenge and tug of war among many other things.

Whether you're a kite or bike enthusiast (or not), the Kites and Bikes Festival will be a great family day out, so why not just make like Mary Poppins and go fly a kite?
