Kite flying is a fun sport that has been around forever. In fact, it has been suggested that the earliest account of flying a kite can be cited back to 206BC in China, where it was invented.

Today kites come in many shapes, sizes as well as colours with festivals and competitions being the passion of children and adults. It can be relaxing or frustrating depending on the weather conditions on the day, yet most kids have had the opportunity of flying their own kite, even if handmade.



Being one of the first and biggest outdoor festivals for 2022, the Kite Flying Festiva l is being held at the Castle Hill Showgrounds on Sunday 27 February 2022. This is a FREE event, however, registrations must be booked beforehand to secure entry into the venue.

As this event is being held at the showgrounds, there is plenty of off-street free parking, which is available for longer as the Flying Kite Festival commences at 10.00am through to 7.00pm. So, if you are just going for a look, you can meet others there at any time throughout the day or be an enthusiast and stay as long as possible.

During this event, there will also be a variety of delicious food to purchase, music with a live DJ and heaps of activities and rides for the children. Please note kites and threads are available inside the showground, no kites and threads are allowed outside the grounds.
