Located on the main street of Hahndorf, Kitchen 2C is passionate about fresh seasonal local produce and wholesome food. They are open for breakfast, morning tea and lunch every day of the week. We popped in for a hot beverage and some scones yesterday and found the experience to be rather pleasant.
Both our scones were not just light and fluffy but also warm straight from the oven. I reckon that is the best time to visit - around 8:30am - the scones literally had a few minutes of baking left as we were ordering. Nothing beats these freshly baked cakes served with Tweedvale's award-winning double cream and Beerenberg's hand-made strawberry jam.
My hot chocolate was beautifully heated and very comforting while my friend's cappuccino had a good ratio of espresso and milk. The foam layering over the top of both our drinks also had a little something to remind you of where you currently are.
The cosy atmosphere inside Kitchen 2C was a nice contrast to the cold morning outside. Other menu items include their house-made fruit loaf, Southwestern salad bowl, Japanese rice bowl, pancakes, cookies and desserts. I know there are heaps of eateries in this unique South Australian German village, but if you'd like to try a different spot next time you're in town, then feel free to check them out.
