Poppy Cherry Presents…a night of decadence and delight, that is to say, welcome—to the world of burlesque.
Kiss Me Deadly is a one-night-only event where 'dangerous burlesque dames' entertain to raise funds for the film
Only the Young Die Good , which is written and directed by
Dominic Deacon . Dominic is known for his films
'Bad Habits' (2009) and '
Burlesque ' (2010), both films have a dark edge and artistically violent themes.
will feature performances by burlesque stars Jasper Jewel, Becky Lou, and Strawberry Siren. All three of these delicious divas have acting roles in the upcoming film and are donating their performances to help raise funds for its production. The film is in the pre-production stage and will be released to audiences in November 2011.
In order to raise funds for the film, producer
Anna Young has been busy organising this fundraising event, as well as promoting the film on the website
Pozible . This website is a crowdfunding platform for artists such as Dominic in order to bring imaginative projects to life. Pozible helps to fund the work of filmmakers, musicians, designers, writers, adventurers, illustrators and other creative individuals. Those that donate to noir film project can win rewards such as signed DVDs, a signed photo, recognition for their donation on a 'thank you' page, a 1940s photo opportunity (costume, hair and make-up), and more.
On the night of the burlesque event there will also be the opportunity for attendees to enter a raffle to win prizes such as a 'Kiss Me Deadly' fragrance created especially for the event. Other prizes have been donated by businesses: Circa Vintage Clothing, Lingerie, Sailor Jerry Rum and more. Plus, Sailor Jerry Rum will be serving special cocktails to complement the burlesque theme.
Only the Young Die Good is set in Melbourne during the year 1949. The main leading man is Private eye Jack Mitchum. Jack witnesses a murder when investigating a wealthy woman's husband. This journey takes the audience through a seedy underground scene with dimly lit bars, dangerous men...and bold beautiful women. Overall, the film is a spin on classic 1940s Hollywood, and
film Noir .
This Noir inspired fundraising event will be held at
The Order of Melbourne , which hosts other burlesque nights and music groups/events based on: funk, soul, rock, and/or indie. Tickets available at the
'Visit Victoria' website.
