Kirra beach home to great surfing and even better coffee
Located in the heart of Kirra Beach on the Gold Coast, is a well-established cafe and restaurant amply named Kirramisu. We were lucky to discover this cafe last weekend for a late breakfast after a pick up from the Gold Coast Airport. The cafe is only about 5 minutes from the Gold Coast Airport and is open from 5.30 am for breakfast and serves great coffee and lunch as well.
The view from the cafe looks out onto the southern end of the Gold Coast at Kirra Beach - home to world-renowned surfing.
We enjoyed a delicious brunch here last Saturday and very impressed with the quality of coffee and service. The coffee served hot and on point and the timing of having our cup of coffee before the meal was perfect.
I opted for the avocado toast for $16.50 and a side of halloumi $6. The perfectly toasted pumpkin sourdough was topped with sliced tomatoes, fresh avocado, feta and wilted rocket all drizzled with balsamic glaze. I was very happy with my choice - very tasty and fresh.
My husband who had just flown in from overseas had a good appetite and ordered the big breakfast ($23). He did well to finish off two eggs, bacon, sausage, sauteed mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, hash browns, baked beans served with Turkish bread.
The cafe is apparently popular with both locals and tourists and has been operating since 2007. Certainly, longevity is a testament to success.
It has a varied menu with a good selection of cold drinks including freshly squeezed juices and smoothies as well as being licenced and serving beer and wine after 10am. They cater well for vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free.
The open styled cafe has both indoors and lots of outdoor footpath tables so that you can really soak in the ambience of Kirra Beach.
