Tucked along Kintore Avenue in Kilburn, Kintore Cafe & Pizza offers not only all-day cafe food but a good range of wood-fired oven pizzas.

Their wood-fired oven pizzas are of the thin-crust variety and cooked sufficiently to give the crust a nice toasted flavour. We liked that their Meat Lovers Pizza had a generous amount of shaved leg ham and bacon. Red onions added a bit of crunch. The slices of salami had a mild spiced flavour and were cooked enough to make them crispy. If you wish, the pizza can be ordered drizzled with barbeque sauce.

The portion size of the Chicken Parmigiana & Chips was generous, allowing it to be easily shared. The flesh of the chicken schnitzel was succulent and was set off nicely by the crumb coating. The topping of tomato sauce ensured that the dish was not dry and added extra flavour. During our visit, the chef was very nice and prepared for us a small portion that included a cheese topping. We had to order ours without cheese because one of us did not want to have the cheese topping. The chips that the schnitzel was served on were golden-brown and fluffy, and seasoned with the right amount of salt.

In addition to their menu items, the cafe also offers a good range of pastries. The apricots in their Apricot Pie retained their texture and did not taste too sweet. The pastry encasing the filling was not too thick and baked sufficiently to give it a golden-brown colour. Some sugar was sprinkled on the crust prior to baking for a hint of sweetness and extra texture.

The decor of the cafe gave it a casual feel. Diners have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Their pizzas can be made with vegan cheese or a gluten-free base, allowing them to be made to suit dietary needs.
